Joel is a resident of Sacramento, however, grew up on an almond, walnut and row crop farm in the Durham area in Butte County. Joel works for CH2M HILL, an 18,000 employee-owned, full-service consulting firm. Currently, Joel serves as the Water Resources and Environmental Management Market Segment leader for CH2M HILL out of the Sacramento office and is responsible for business development decisions in a 9-state region. Joel also serves as an Agricultural Services Senior Technologist in the area of irrigation development and water resources programs.

Joel graduated from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo with his B.S. in Soil Science. Joel then completed his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from North Carolina State University in Raleigh also in Soil Science with an emphasis on Agricultural Engineering and Water Resources respectively.

Joel is actively involved in his community and many professional organizations including the American Society of Agronomy and Soil Science Society of America. Joel recently completed a board director position with the Shasta Land Trust in Redding, CA. Joel also currently serves as chair of the Cal Poly Soil Science Advisory Council.

Joel and his wife Lilly, live in Sacramento with their daughter Natalia (5) and son Jackson (2). Lilly currently is the lead Development Officer for Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento.
