Class 37

Kiran Black
Manager of Political Affairs
California Farm Bureau Federation

Kiran serves as an agricultural advocate with the California Farm Bureau Federation, a non-profit statewide organization working to protect farming and ranching on behalf of 88,000 members. Kiran is currently responsible for engaging the farming community in political action. In this role she oversees efforts in the areas of political education, grassroots mobilization, political action committee activities and tying these efforts into the organization's overall policy objectives.

Previously, Kiran also served the Farm Bureau in the area of federal policy and regulatory matters. Her work with the organization has allowed her to interact with farmers, ranchers and other members of the agriculture community throughout the state.

Her commitment to agriculture stems from roots in a family farming enterprise in the Yuba-Sutter region, north of Sacramento. The enterprise includes the production of peaches, prunes and walnuts, as well as other vertically integrated segments. Kiran enjoys participating in the growth and evolution of the family business.

Kiran graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2000 with a B.S. in Crop Science and Management.

Kiran and her husband, Cameron, live in Woodland. Cameron shares Kiran's interest in agriculture and also works in the agriculture community.
