Andrea is the laboratory manager for this family-owned company that is leading the way in biodynamic wine in the United States. The 85 acre Sonoma Mountain Estate has become a research and teaching center for the cultivation of grapes with more flavor, intensity and site-specific vineyard character. In her capacity, Andrea is also part of the winemaking team. Her learning of biodynamics through Benziger has developed her passion for green living and being committed to leaving a smaller footprint. Andrea is responsible for the certification of the vineyards and wineries associated with Benziger. She is also involved with the care of the compost and biodynamic preparations. Andrea finds passion in diversity of work and people, the ability to manage many different aspects of the whole while working with others to reach the common goal.
Her love of nature and travel enticed Andrea into becoming a professional lumberjack. Andrea started competing in college and has since been competing professionally for 5 years. She has traveled across the country competing as well as in Canada and competed in the Sydney Royal Easter show in Australia this spring. Andrea has even had the opportunity to live in China while working in a lumberjack show. Andrea is currently Treasurer for the American Lumberjack Association and previously was a board member and Secretary.
Andrea graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and a concentration in Farm and Ranch Management.
Andrea and her husband, Casey, live in Santa Rosa where they are surrounded by friends and family. Casey shares Andrea's passion for wine and oversees a harvest production crew at the sister winery of Benziger, Imagery Estate Winery.
