Steve DeRose
Agriculture Teacher, Advisor and Coach

Steve is a thirty year veteran of Agriculture Education spending the last twenty eight at Arroyo Grande High School. Steve is the Department Chair and oversees all curriculums, finances, activities and the FFA leadership program. The Agriculture Department is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. The comprehensive program at Arroyo Grande has grown over the years and now services nearly 450 students and offers career pathways in AgriScience, AgriBusiness, Veterinary and Animal Science, Floral Design and Mechanics. Over the years the program and its students have received numerous local, regional, state and national recognitions and awards.

Steve enjoys camping, watching sporting events, and playing around of golf now and then. Nothing is more relaxing to him than sitting around the camp or cabin surrounded by family, trees, wildlife and a running stream, lake or snow.

Steve graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business. He then followed that with a Teaching Credential in 1997 and Masters in Agriculture Science in 1980.

Steve also coaches various sports teams and takes an active leadership role in the California Agriculture Teacher Association and Career Technical Education. He presently sits on the California FFA Board of Directors and State Career Pathways Project.

Steve and his wife, Diane, live in Arroyo Grande.
